Knowledge is Power!
Depending on the conference there are a number of different options to consider based on your needs and your budget. One of the first factors to consider is the number of attendees. If you have an extremely large conference, it will not be cost efficient to get expensive convention name tags. If your budget is extremely limited, adhesive blank name tags with black markers for writing names may be your best option. The disadvantage is that these don’t look very professional and don’t come imprinted with attractive graphics.
If your employees attend conventions often, you might consider outfitting them with reusable convention name tags. These come with a logo imprinted but space to write in custom names. These are made to work with common label markers and can be easily erased and reused. Reusable name tags look more professional and attractive, but still offer flexibility and can easily make up for their higher cost through repeated use.
One of the highest quality available options is the metallic name badge. These have a base color of brushed gold, brushed silver, or white aluminum. They are digitally imprinted with full color, are exceptionally durable, and retain their design indefinitely. These offer the benefits of prestigious and luxurious appearance, but must be imprinted ahead of time with the convention participants’ names, so they don’t offer much flexibility.
If you run conferences regularly, or organize recurring conferences, you may want to consider employing convention name tags that are imprinted with your "real" name and your company Twitter name, if you have one. Convention attendees find it much easier to remember a Twitter name than to remember a person's name and phone number or web site address. Either list the employee's "real" name with their Twitter name underneath it on your convention nametags, or just list the employee Twitter name on the name badge. Either way, you'll stand out from the crowd!
