I have a unique combination of qualifications, with over 20 years of experience in providing practical, easy to understand health information. As a fibromyalgia patient, I have put together a lot of useful tips through both research and first-hand experience.
It took me three years of pain and searching to get a doctor to tell me what was wrong, and countless trials of medications to be able to get up and go to work each day. I started putting together information about fibromyalgia and gradually learned about things that helped. Through my experience as a health information/communications worker, I was able to understand and organize the information in a way that I realized would be helpful to others.
I was interested in reading about dopamine and fibromyalgia. I wonder, since too much dopamine in the brain causes symptoms of psychosis, and not enough causes Parkinson's disease, if someone taking a medication to inhibit dopamine, like Risperdal or Abilify, has a lot of aches and pains, feels burnt out does not respond to stress well, could they be on too high of a dose? Or to put it another way, could the medication cause fibromyalgia-like side effects?
