I am a Brazilian-Spanish physicist working in astroparticle and high energy physics, especially neutrino physics. I work as a senior scientist at the Spanish Council for Scientific Research CSIC, the largest public research body in Spain, leading both the Astroparticle and High Energy Group (AHEP group) and the Theory Division of IFIC (Instituto de Física Corpuscular) at the University of València. I have contributed to the theory of neutrino oscillations whose recent discovery was a triumph of neutrino astronomy, an emerging field which has given the physics Nobel Prize in 2002. This discovery shows the incompleteness of the Standard Model of particle physics and has important consequences also for astrophysics and cosmology.
