The blown in method of cavity wall insulation is highly effective.
Blown insulation
Insulation methods of cavity wall can block up to one third of heat losses via outer walls. Wall insulation at the same time can prevent entry of noise too. Mainly existing and old buildings are possible to insulate using the method of blown in cavity wall insulation. Following steps are taken in Blown insulation.
Expert contractors determine whether to blow cavity wall insulation from exterior or interior walls. Generally, exterior walls are selected for insulating walls to prevent interior walls from dusts messes and repairs.
At the window openings, a brick from above and below the window are removed to get in the cavities and blow in materials of insulation If your home has brick walls or stucco, contractors will drill the walls from inside.
Then in the next step, the walls are drill with a 2" holes vertically along the building and spaces within frame studs are fixed for hole-drilling. They begin to drill from the house corner by maintaining studs that are 16" centre.
Then the insertion of a hose is done to blow in insulation materials and blow equipment into cavities. The pressure gauge in the blow equipment shows when cavity is completely filled up. These ratings of pressure vary from machine to machine.
Once the method of cavity wall insulation is over, the reinstallation of siding is done and inside wall holes or panels are patched as per the adopted method for drilling.
If you plan to insulate new building to make sure of insulation ready home, go for pre-cut paneled or batt insulation materials and avoid blown in appraoch.
