The Indian Media presents a sorry state of affairs - sensationalizing trivial issues and giving highly biased presentation on serious matters. Many a time, one has to go through several newspapers or news channels to get the true picture. Real neutral media is simply unavailable. Will the Internet provide the alternative? Probably, individuals sharing the information on current issues through this new media is the best and only available alternative.

It sounds like the Media in India is in the same boat as the Media in America. Most of the people I meet each day are disgusted by what the tv, newspapers, etc. are daily dumping on us. It does take work to find the truth. The rich control the Media and use fear to manipulate the feelings of the general public into buying into what they sell. The average person just wants a peaceful life and help in attaining it. Yet, the Media innundates us with garbage. What goes into a mind comes out in actions appropriate to the quality of the input. Is is any wonder that the world is going to the dogs and nations can not live peacefully. When did the politicians and the Media become kings of this world to rule all of us mainly for the financial gain they greedily relish? Now the Media is upset that millions are turning to the Internet. The Media has lost its credibility. We need a format that will solve issues dear to the hearts of the common person. People will open up and get involved if they know that what they care about is also of importance to many others. Encourage everyone to use the Internet. As we all search for the truth, maybe we will one day come together as a world united with the same cares and interests.

I agree that media off late has tried to become the king, the law, the enforcer of 'values'. However it has also exposed a lot of people (particualrly in small towns of India) to various new things about the world. That Indian media in particular needs tempering is an under-statement but to its credit it has also brought India together in times of crisis like the Gujarat earthquake, the Kargil War etc. What Indian media needs at this time is the ability to distinguish marketing from national or public interest - at times they get carried away in their one up-manship over the rival media group. In such times they do not even censor the gory pictures or vet stories that could hurt the national interest.

Blogging and discussion forums on the internet will surely lead to media doing some introspection and becoming more mature. With more and more Indians getting on the internet by the day I do not think it is far when the traditional forms of the media will learn to co-exist gracefully with their traditional rivals as well as the Internet and whatever innovations might be coming in the virtual world.

I recently became an active part of an internet-based news-publishing platform called Merinews (check out http://www.merinews.com). I am one of its Citizen Journalists, or CJ. This site provides an outlet for common citizens to publish news stories from their own perspective. Attending a meeting of this site, I met with the webmaster, Vipul Kant Upadhyaya, who has a vision of recruiting CJ's by the thousands, so that we - the common people - can make an impact over the kind of news that we really want. Several media personalities attended the aforementioned meeting, and I was delighted to see their discomfiture.

TV, newspapers, magazines etc are all commercialized. They do have a powerful impact in molding public opinion but they are guided by their own commercial considerations and show whatever is in their own interest.
There definitely is a need to have a place where a common man can freely and boldly express his views to the world and expose what other media doesn't. Such a place or forum should have a wide circulation and should be easily available to any one.
Hope Google knol will provide that space where a full view on any subject from all possible angles can be viewed.

Those who have watched the TV and listened to the Radio during the recent Indo Pak cricket series will know that the ad content was more than the cricket content and the ads were repetitive to the extent of being obnoxious and revulsive. The media is after money those who own it are after money and power. In this melee the individual can assert his own power and preferences only by rejecting the products advertised intrusively and without any consideration for the context or needs of the listerner/viewer.

It is up to us to group together and create a solid foundation for correct news that people will want to read everyday.
Have a strategy and go for it!

www.dailypioneer.com is the site address of Daily Pioneer. It presents the view from a different side than the so called 'popular' media.

Similar site addresses might be added for general information for getting a balanced view of issues.

Adderall For ADHD

Currently, 4.4% of the adult population has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). This disorder is present from childhood, but many times it is not diagnosed until the person reaches adulthood and takes on more responsibility such as what is required when managing finances and jobs, and when interacting with spouses or significant others or their children. Under these additional demands, the attributes of ADHD (inattention, distractibility, and impulsivity) may become more prevalent.… Continue

Impact of Social Media on SEO

Mike Seidle from Pro Blog Service wrote..."Most of our clients at Professional Blog Service come in thinking SEO. Somewhere they hear that blogging works for getting better ranks on Google. 8 Ways Employers Bend The Florida Overtime Wage Laws

The Fair Labor and Standards Act (FLSA) requires employees who work overtime to be paid for the additional work they have done beyond the standard 40 hour work week. Even though this law is supposed to make things standard across the country so all employees are treated fairly, some employers routinely "cheat" their employees out of overtime pay, even if they do it unintentionally. Because the law is confusing and complex, it is easy for employers to either misinterpret the FSLA or to "bend" the… Continue

Engraved Name Tags

Name tags are worn by employees for many reasons: to let a customer know that the person they are talking to is a representative of the company; to help employees feel that they are a part of a team; and to help "brand" the company logo to the client. Name tags come in all shapes and sizes and in all colors and styles, but one of the most durable and professional name badges you can get are engraved name tags.

We've all seen someone wearing them - we've pr…

Time To Go Mobile

Well, it's time to convert your website into a mobile version.

Why?

iphone is now selling re-furbished iphones for $99.00 (so practically anyone can afford an iphone) - AND Walmart is now selling iphones. That means that this product will now be more in the mainstream than ever. The number of mobile phone users continues to grow, despite the global recession. And what is the mantra for Internet marketing?

GO WHERE YOUR AUDIENCE IS

Yes, the "build it… Continue
