Challenges are the part of every job and journalism is not escaped from it. This profession invites maximum number of challenges and a
reporter has to take them as part of his/her occupation. According to
a famous journalist, “the biggest challenge for a today’s
journalist is to survive”
The intense competition among
various news channels, newspapers, magazines etc. has begun a war
between them and journalism
is not spared from it. Today every reporter has to work under
pressure to create or break news. Their incentives are based upon the
news, thus journalists leave no stone unturned to get“breaking”
news from any part of the world.
Follow the tight deadlines
are an inseparable part of a journalist career and every media
professional has to complete his assignment or story before the
deadline ends. Newspaper reporters have to meet this deadlines by
handing over the stories or report till 11pm, since newspapers are
printed overnight. TV reporters must hand their stories
by 9 am if it is to be aired at evening 6pm. There is
absolutely no flexibility offered, your story should be ready on
time.
Journalists often have to visit places which are badly
struck by natural calamities like floods, heavy snowfall, landslides
and cloud burst. In order to wake up the sleeping authorities of the
affected area towards the welfare and rescue mission of the people,
journalists have to visit the worst hit areas as well. This could
also pose a serious threat to their lives as well. In some
unfortunate accidents media people have suffered injuries while
covering stories in dangerous places.
Journalism
is also followed by assignments, like covering a war zone, communal
riots, and infiltrations in borders, civil wars and much more
perilous coverage. The spread of insecurity in a country not only
threat the lives the people of that place, but media people also
become their targets. Many terrorist organizations do not hesitate to
kill media people; they accuse journalists for supporting the
government authorities and security forces. Sometimes these
consequences can turn fatal. A famous American journalist with Wall
Street Journal was kidnapped and then killed by terrorists in 2002.
Journalist are also held hostage and detained during
conflicts between the countries. It is really traumatic and sometimes
situations can become extremely dangerous for the captured media
professional/s.
Many western countries have “freedom
of the press” but not all the countries give this right to their
media professionals. In many countries media does not have freedom to
speech and journalists have to adhere with the set norms before
writing or publishing a story, else they have to face dire
consequences. This is called self-censorship. The journalists are
oppressed by their own governments. They are not supposed to show any
videos which could malign the government for violating human rights
and taking innocent lives and creating havoc.
For Journalist,
you could go for journalism
degree course from a recognized institute or journalism
diploma or certification course. Your communication skills and
command over English also play a crucial role in your interview.
However, despite of such intense challenges in Journalism
some people are determined to do their jobs with full dedications and
nothing could deter them.

Is an artist's "vision" primarily a product of experience or imagination? I don't want to pursue the simple answer that it's both. Is it primarily one or the other, of if it's just plain old both, how do they interact to create an imaginary world?
